It's slowly getting a little chilly here, so what's the perfect remedy (other than soup) to the chill? Coooooookies! I found a recipe that sounded a little odd but whatever. Cookies can not be bad. Ever. That's a scientific fact. I baked them and they lasted 10 minutes. My mother couldn't stop eating them. And she's not a cookie person. Anyhow, just bake a batch and see for yourself!

Earl Grey Vanilla Cookies
500 ml (2 cups) flour
125 ml (1/2 cup) sugar
125 ml (1/2 cup) powdered sugar
6 Earl Grey teabags
1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
1 tsp water
200 g butter, unsalted
Use a food processor, and blitz the tea from all teabags with the sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar if using, and flour. If you're using vanilla extract, add this now, with the butter and water. Let the machine work it into a nice dough. If it's too dry, add another teaspoon of water, if it's too wet, add a little more flour.
Shape into sausages, wrap in plastic, and leave in the fridge or freezer to firm up for at least a couple of hours, or overnight.
Bake at 180°C for about 10 minutes.
Enjoy!

Soup
It's officially fall and I am officially cold. Thankfully, there's soup out there to keep my insides warm. This week I'm on a french onion soup bender with melted cheese on top (of course!!!) but with Thanksgiving (the Canadian version of it) looming, the days of buttersquash and pumpkin soup are fast approaching. I wonder how my leek and pumpkin soup will come out without wine in it (don't forget, I live in a dry house!)...meh!
In news other than soup, work is kicking my ass but I love it so much. The kids are great and they make me laugh.
My brother is leaving to go hunt tomorrow and I'll be taking care of the dog. Why did he get her used to late night walks? I'm quite sure that I'll be cussing him out while walking around at 11pm for 10 days...
One day I'll get around to posting pics, but right now all I want is a cup of tea and you guessed it...a big bowl of soup :-D

Canadian Culture in Peril or Why You Should Vote!!!!!!
As some of you know, our lovely conservative government has decided to cut back DRASTICALLY on the funding of cultural organizations. They've mainly been slashing cutting in the programs that fund Canadian artists who go abroad to represent our country in festivals or any other instance. Now as an "artist" myself, you can imagine just how much I'm liking everyone's favorite Prime Minister...oh excuse me...I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
There are many things that we can do as citizens and as fans of art, but the main thing is to vote in the coming elections.
I leave you with a wonderful video made by some francophone artists who, like me, don't agree with Mr.douchebag Harper...
Toodles for now!

Why I love Matt Harding
How can you stop yourself from adoring someone who dances like that AND travels the world? I so desperately want his job! I keep trying to pause it because yes, you're truly was there at the Montreal shoot and I did the dance! I was too shy to even say hi to the infamous Matt but he seemed nice enough.
Anyhow, enjoy!

Gah...
I miss my best friend. I'm really lucky to have a great group of friends. The four of us (how very sex and the city!) are super duper different and we're all nuts, but inevitably, some links are tighter than others...One of them (F) left to study in France for the semester and really...boo! She'll be back in time for the holidays, but I'm noticing how I actually have to think about who I'm calling now whereas before she left, I'd just automatically call her. Again, I'm über-lucky to have a great group of friends and they miss her as much as I do...so at least I know that I'm not alone in this feeling crappy situation.
...wow...I just re-read that and I sound like a fifth grader! Oh well! Off I go to make friendship bracelets to send by mail!!! LOL!!! (ok...i was kidding...)
knitting content to come...eventually!

TV
I, like many people in the world, LOVE tv. I really like renting series and recently, I'd heard something about Mad Men. I thought nothing special of it but then I rented it this past weekend. OMFG! Smart tv. I missed that. I was a HUGE Six Feet Under fan (Alan Ball RULES!) and I find this comparable. Go check it out. GO!!!!!!!

New family member

This is Mia. She lives with us now. Well she's my brother's dog but like Serge, when we get pets, they become EVERYONE's pet. Now she's very cute but really, not the sharpest tool in the shed...
Serge feels that his cuteness is threatened by her hugeness and anytime that she's around, he just shrinks to a dinky piece of my cat. I know. He's not much smarter than she is...I still find it funny!!!
